Mt. Misery Redux

Having felt meh about my former Mt. Misery excursion, I waited for when clouds were in the forecast and headed out first thing to see what I could capture. I’m super happy with the results. First, I caught a pond on my way to my chosen location, which I’ve often ogled from the road. It turned out pretty well, though I neglected to turn off my car’s headlights, and that spoiled several shots. The one I’m showing here is one where I managed to crop and edit out the majority of the damage, but I think I’ll try to return here tomorrow to see if I can get a second chance at it.

I love the depth in these woodland images. The sun casts a brilliant yellow light here, and I edited it to even out the dynamic range while emphasizing the interior shadows.

I find the colors here a bit jarring, but this image is true to what I saw, and is only very lightly edited.
