Ice and Rock

While walking around at Doane’s Falls, I spotted this rock with ice that looked like it had flown up and over it. By itself, the picture is unremarkable. But when I cropped in and dialed up the saturation, something marvelous happened. This blue appeared right at the edge. Ice shows blue because of oxygen trapped in tiny bubbles as it forms, which reflects the blue back to our eyes. On the other side, the yellow is from minerals suspended in the water.
