Assabet River Dam

I’ve been meaning to get out to the dam in Maynard, and I’m glad I chose a time when there still was undisturbed ice and snow. This is my first outing with the ND filter, when I could play with shutter speed. I think I should have left more texture in the water, and of course I need to keep working on composition. Still, I’m proud of these.

I’m especially proud of these rock images. I love the patterns in the ice, and I’m super happy about the little leaf dangling there in one of them.

This one of a different rock really works for me too. I worked the edit to make that green in the moss pop out.

Here are some others I took that day that didn’t work really well for me because they just feel too busy, or compositionally meh. The composition of the second dam image seems to work OK, but I wish the water didn’t look quite so blurred. Or maybe I like it? I’m just not sure.
